Online Classroom Development

Research for a project at the Illinois Institute of Technology (www.iit.edu) to create an online classroom for a Technical Communication program being offered online as part of a larger learning management system. After conducting background primary and secondary research on useful features for an online classroom, I created and presented the wireframes and supporting analysis to the Program Chair and a faculty member.

Adobe InDesign as a Tool for Usability Experts

For a usability engineer, or anyone working in the technical communications industry, writing well-designed documents and reports is an essential part of success. Presenting findings and recommendations to clients is another important step to make a good impression that has a big impact on your job. In a team of four researchers, we created a tutorial with an aim to simplify these two steps by using Adobe InDesign for both writing reports and presenting them by merging them into one. Since Adobe InDesign gives greater control over layout and provides a more efficient way to manage projects, we tested our findings in formal usability lab and modified the tutorial accordingly.
